Making Greenwood Safer

This project included the construction of new sidewalks on the east and west side of Greenwood Ave N from N 136th to N 145th Streets. This is a major urban corridor with businesses, apartments and single-family homes adjacent to the roadway. The main focus of the project was to provide new sidewalks where none currently existed, and where cars were frequently parked on the shoulder making it difficult for pedestrians to safely walk.

The project also included a new storm conveyance and detention system, curb, gutter, sidewalk, transit stops, traffic signal modifications, a new pedestrian crossing signal, rock facings, channelization and signing, ADA curb ramps, and landscaping.

What CM Design Group Did

CM Design Group was responsible for the design of all elements of the project with the exception of the traffic signal upgrades. CM Design Group worked closely with the City of Seattle and neighboring property owners to design the driveways and other frontage improvements.

CM Design Group was also responsible for the right-of-way plans and TCE documents and helped SDOT with the documentation required for this federally funded project. The project was bid as two separate projects. The east sidewalk was constructed in 2018, and the west sidewalk was built in 2019.
