100TH AVE NE CROSSING – CITY OF BOTHELL

CM Design Group prepared the PS&E documents for this pedestrian safety project for the City of Bothell. Catherine researched rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) products to provide recommendations to the City in selecting the appropriate product for the specific location.

The project included new solar RRFB systems on each side of 100th Ave NE in suburban Bothell. Catherine also provided construction inspection for the project.

2012 RESIDENTIAL STREET OVERLAY PROGRAM – CITY OF MERCER ISLAND

CM Design Group was selected to complete the PS&E documents for the City of Mercer Island's residential street overlay program. CM Design Group staff completed all of the project basemapping using GIS info and an efficient method of mapping and evaluating the streets. The project included pavement repair, grinding, pavement overlay, speed humps, curb, gutter and sidewalk, ADA ramps, utility adjustments, signing, striping, driveway replacement, and edge restoration. Catherine was Project Manager, ensuring the firm met the tight schedule and completed the project under the original design budget.

ROXHILLS & OLYMPIC HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SIDEWALK PROJECTS – SDOT

CM Design Group completed this Safe Routes to School project which included four new blocks of sidewalk at two Seattle Public Schools. The projects include new curb ramps at six different intersections along the routes. Catherine was project manager and John was lead designer on this project. Work also included storm drainage design, concrete panel replacement, pedestrian push button relocation, retaining walls, new driveways, fences, and preparation of right-of-way plans and exhibits.

AURORA AVENUE RAPID RIDE TRANSIT PRIORITY PROJECT – SDOT

CM Design Group was a subconsultant to Perteet on this Transit Priority project along the Aurora Avenue corridor. This SDOT project included pedestrian access upgrades at numerous locations. CM Design designed a total of 16 new curb ramps at 3 different intersections and a one block segment of sidewalk along N 143rd Street. This project was constructed in the fall of 2013, and included new sidewalk, concrete panel replacement, storm drainage improvements, new fences, landscaping, signing, and striping.

EAST MERCER WAY ROADSIDE SHOULDER IMPROVEMENTS PH 8 – CITY OF MERCER ISLAND

This project involved widening the existing winding roadway to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists that use this heavily travelled roadway. CM Design Group prepared the PS&E documents for this project in less than three months in order to have it constructed in the early summer 2013. The project included new storm drainage pipe, ditch reconstruction, roadway widening, guardrail relocation, hydrant relocations, utility adjustments, signing and striping. CM Design Group also provided the construction inspection services for this project which was built within the original construction budget.

2013 PAVEMENT RESTORATION PROJECT — CITY OF BOTHELL

CM Design Group was selected in January 2013 to complete the PS&E documents for the City of Bothell's pavement restoration project. CM Design Group staff completed the project basemapping using GIS info and an efficient method of mapping and evaluating the streets. The project included pavement repair, grinding, pavement overlay, utility adjustments, striping, driveway replacement, and edge restoration. Catherine was Project Manager for this project and ensured the tight schedule was met and the project completed under the original design budget.

2013 ARTERIAL AND RESIDENTIAL STREET OVERLAYS — CITY OF MERCER ISLAND

CM Design Group was selected in February 2013 to complete the PS&E documents for the City of Mercer Island's arterial and residential street overlays project. CM Design Group staff completed the project basemapping using GIS info and an efficient method of mapping and evaluating the streets. The project, with a $725,000 construction budget, included pavement repair, grinding, pavement overlay, utility adjustments, striping, driveway replacement, and edge restoration. Catherine was Project Manager for this project and ensured the tight schedule was met and the project completed under the original design and construction budget.

228TH ST SE CORRIDOR & CITYWIDE SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT – CITY OF BOTHELL

CM Design Group completed the design for this safety improvement project on the busy 228th St SE Corridor and at various locations throughout Bothell, WA. The 228th St SE portion of the project includes relocating the existing traffic signal and reconfiguring the intersection of 19th Ave SE to increase driver awareness and pedestrian safety. Traffic signal operations at 15th Ave SE will be upgraded and new ADA curb ramps installed on all intersections. Traffic islands and reconfiguration of existing driveways at the major shopping center along the corridor will be revised to allow right-turn in and out only in an effort to reduce conflict points along the corridor. The Citywide safety improvements include ped crossings with RRFBs, curb ramps, traffic signal backplates, stop signs with beacons, signing and striping.

ADA UPGRADES FOR 2014 OVERLAY PROGRAM – CITY OF BELLEVUE

The City of Bellevue put out a separate contract for ADA-compliant curb ramps ahead of their annual pavement overlay program in 2014. CM Design Group designed 184 curb ramps, prepared the plans and cost estimates, determined the threshold drainage area calculations, and completed the MEF documentation. The curb ramp designs were challenging due to the steep slopes on several of the corridors.

NE 45th CURB RAMPS PROJECT – SDOT

This federally funded (FTA) project provided for sidewalk curb ramp improvements along Metro's Bus Route 44 through the University District to Greenlake. The scope of work involved preparation of PS&E documents for roughly 25 curb ramps at four intersections along this busy, urban corridor. The project included curb ramp design, utility relocation, traffic signal equipment relocation, new pedestrian push buttons and displays, modified traffic islands, a bike lane pass-through, minor drainage, and striping. In addition to providing the PS&E, CM Design Group was also responsible for preparing the Maximum Extent Feasible (MEF) document to support ramp designs that do not meet with ADA design guidelines.

2014 CITYWIDE CURB RAMP REPAIR PROJECT — SDOT

This fast-tracked SDOT project included design of nearly 300 ADA-compliant curb ramps at various locations throughout the City of Seattle within five months. In addition to providing the PS&E, CM Design Group was also responsible for preparing the Maximum Extent Feasible (MEF) document to support designs that did not meet with the ADA design guidelines. Given the sloping topography of Seattle, the majority of ramps required MEF documentation.

2014-2017 OVERLAY AND PAVEMENT RESTORATION PROJECT — CITY OF BELLEVUE

The City of Bellevue Utilities Department contracted with CM Design Group to provide PS&E documents for pavement overlay and restoration work following their annual AC Watermain Replacement Projects. The project will be an annual project from 2014 through 2017 and include roughly 6,500 LF of pavement restoration at up to 14 sites each year. Tasks on this project include preparation of base maps, site analysis, and preparation of PS&E documents. Work in the PS&E documents include a 2” asphalt overlay, pavement repairs, utility adjustments, and pavement markings.

SW GRADY WAY S OVERLAY PROJECT — CITY OF RENTON

The City of Renton selected CM Design Group to prepare the PS&E documents for their SW Grady Way S Overlay project in 2014. The project included pavement grinding and overlay, utility adjustments, striping, and minor curb and sidewalk replacement along a busy five-lane arterial in the commercial area of Renton. This $1 million construction project was federally funded. CM Design Group prepared the PS&E documents and drainage report, as well as the MEF documentation for the ADA curb ramp work within the corridor.

2015 SIDEWALK DEVELOPMENT AND SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT — CITY OF SEATTLE

As their first assignment on the SDOT Pedestrian-Bicycle On-Call Design services contract, CM Design Group prepared the PS&E documents for 21 blocks of sidewalk at seven locations in Seattle. Projects range from one-block segments in residential areas to a nine-block segment along Greenwood Ave N. Project elements included roadway widening, sidewalk, curb ramps, bike lanes, storm drainage, traffic signal revisions, retaining walls, channelization, signing, striping, and public involvement.

2015-2016 PAVEMENT OVERLAY PROGRAM — CITY OF LYNNWOOD

CM Design Group was selected by the City of Lynnwood to prepare the PS&E documents for the City of Lynnwood's 2015-2016 Pavement Overlay Program. This project included a full rebuild of 184th Street SW, spot pavement repair, and restoration of pavement at Alderwood Mall Parkway and 182nd Street SW through grind and HMA overlay. Alderwood Mall Parkway and 182th Street SW are major arterials, and adjacent to Alderwood Mall. This federally funded construction project has a budget of $4 million.

The project also included ADA curb ramp assessment and design, and MEF documentation. CM Design Group also provided the environmental documents to meet NEPA requirements. Traffic signals were also upgraded to meet ADA compliance.

2015 PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT — CITY OF REDMOND

CM Design Group prepared the PS&E documents for the City of Redmond's 2015 Pavement Repair Project. The project, with a construction budget of nearly $1 million, included major pavement repair areas, and overlay on residential streets and urban arterials. CM Design Group broke the cost estimate out into seven bid schedules to reflect the different work including minor storm drainage repair, replacement of water valves and sewer utility castings, and minor safety improvement plans prepared by others. CM Design Group was also responsible for the ADA curb ramp assessment, design, and MEF documentation.

2015 PAVEMENT REPAIR & OVERLAY PROJECT — CITY OF BOTHELL

The City of Bothell selected CM Design Group to complete the PS&E and MEF documentation for their 2015 Pavement Repair & Overlay Project. This project included spot repairs on North Creek Parkway, and the overlay of 120th Ave SE. Both roads are busy arterials in a Bothell business park. Our firm evaluated existing curb ramps for compliance, designed new ramps as necessary, and provided the MEF documentation for this $1.2 million project.

2015 CITYWIDE CURB RAMP REPAIR PROJECT — SDOT

CM Design Group created the curb ramp designs for the City of Seattle's 2015 Citywide Curb Ramp Repair project. The project includes the design of roughly 100 curb ramps at 20 intersections throughout the city. Four of the intersections include traffic signal system upgrades. CM Design Group's designs are being constructed by either SDOT construction crews or by a contractor. In addition to preparing the plans, cost estimates and MEF documentation, CM Design Group also evaluated design alternatives at several of the intersections.

DUVALL AVE NE OVERLAY PROJECT — CITY OF RENTON

The City of Renton selected CM Design Group to prepare the PS&E documents for the Duvall Ave NE project from NE 4th St to NE 10th St. The project includes pavement repairs, pavement grinding and overlay, a new HAWK signal system, solar radar feedback signs, ADA compliant curb ramps, sidewalk and driveway reconstruction, signing, and striping. The project includes site evaluation and preparation of a detour plan to mitigate impacts to the adjacent residential and commercial areas as well as the local high school. CM Design Group is also preparing the MEF documentation. The projected cost for this federally funded project is roughly $1.1 million.

SE 40th ST OVERLAY PROJECT — CITY OF MERCER ISLAND

CM Design Group prepared the design and provided construction monitoring for the City's SE 40th St Overlay Project. The project included pavement repair, grinding, pavement overlay, utility adjustments, striping, driveway replacement, and edge restoration. Other project elements included removal and replacement of asphalt walkways along the corridor, installation of new ADA compliant curb ramps, and significant drainage improvements.

ADA UPGRADES FOR 2016 OVERLAY PROGRAM — CITY OF BELLEVUE

The City of Bellevue selected CM Design Group to prepare the plans and cost estimates for roughly 80 curb ramps along four main corridors as part of their annual pavement overlay program for 2016. CM Design Group will develop ADA compliant design for the curb ramps, and provide the MEF documentation for ramps that cannot be made compliant.
